COUNTRY - The Arthur and Suzie Roe Collection of Contemporary Australian Art
COUNTRY has different meanings to different people in Australia. Is it a place, a land, a nation, a history, the spiritual home of the Indigenous people, the outback, a safe haven for the world’s victimised, the opportunity for a better life and new identity.
This exhibition, drawn from the substantial collection of Arthur Roe that includes significant examples of Australian contemporary Indigenous and non Indigenous art, and will explore the theme of COUNTRY in its various manifestations. Due to the size of the collection, the exhibition will occupy both the gallery and apartment, including objects from the collection in the display cases.
