Electrolight is a multi-award winning, international lighting design studio, responsible for many iconic projects including CityLink Sound Tube, Melbourne Theatre Company and AAMI Park Stadium. As sculptors of light and curators of the visual realm, Electrolight will provide an insight into the fundamentals of light and how illumination can be used to impact our perceptions of the built environment.

MAKING VISIONS COME TO LIGHT

Lighting is the ultimate design challenge. Join lighting designer Ilan El and architect Charles Justin in an illuminating evening exploring the wonders and possibilities of contemporary lighting installations.

The evening includes a presentation by Ilan El, followed by a guided tour of the current exhibition Let there be Light, with the Director of JAHM, Charles Justin.

The evening concludes with drinks and refreshments in the JAHM apartment.

Artist Cameron Robbins will discuss his distinctive art practice and its relationship to light and nature. Robbins’ artistic practice interacts with the environmental elements and forces - wind, oceans, magnetic fields and light - in the creation of his works. Robbins speaks about the movements of the planets, moon and sun and using various works from over the years will illustrate how observing the heavens gives us our sense of perspective.

MUSEUM AS PLACEMAKER

KTA has designed several museums and spaces for art practice and exhibition. Each has attempted to use architecture and landscape as the blueprint for forming place that not only invites congregation for the purpose of museum going or art appreciation but also extends the museum beyond the walls of its official domain, weaving it into the everyday experience and enjoyment of place. Kerstin will talk through completed projects MUMA and VCA as well as projects currently in development including the JHC and Riversdale Arthur Boyd Gallery for Bundanon Trust in NSW.
