Elena Kats-Chernin AO returns to JAHM with a program crafted around images and magic, illusions and fantasy, the many ways the imagination can create stories and whole worlds from a single starting point of reality.

Invited time and again to create music for silent films, conjuring emotions and intrigue from black and white stills, Elena is no stranger to the process of creating something completely new for an existing work, giving a different, contemporary life through music both in parallel but also tangential to the original work.

Drawing from her own recent works - Simsalabim (Abracadabra) and Ancient Letters, and Kats-Chernin classics such as Magic Spell Tango and Moon Feather Magic, come and enjoy this rare chance to hear Elena Kats-Chernin, one of Australia's most beloved music creators - the highest-voted Australian composer in the Classic100 countdown for the third year running - performing her own music, for two concerts only, at JAHM.
